Goodyear OptiGrip conquered the Europe!

Summer innovation of Goodyear OptiGrip confirmed the status of “Best tires of spring-summer 2009”.  Successful innovations in numerous tests which were carried out by the biggest European automobile magazines and professional organizations confirm this fact.

Thanks to the unique technology SmartWear used in tires, a new layer and new slots appear on tires due to tread wear and that provides excellent characteristics during the whole operating life of tires.

The last winning of Goodyear OptiGrip tires was in comparative test between standard and energy-conserving summer tires with dimensions of 205/55R16 91V. The test was carried out by authoritative German automobile edition “Auto Moto und Sport”. Goodyear OptiGrip showed the best results in all the tests on wet road: aquaplaning resistance test, road ability, riding stability and got 99 points from 100 possible. Specialists of the magazine awarded Goodyear OptiGrip with the first place and estimated it as «Very Recommendable».

Auto Moto und Sport concluded: “A very confident driving, an excellent clutch and first-class slowdowning on wet road. A very good aquaplaning resistance”.

Before that, Goodyear OptiGrip proved itself in these tests of such European editions as follows:

  • The Norwegian Consumer Council magazine “Forbrukerrådet” (Norway) – Winning in the comparative test (17 summer tires with dimensions of 205/55R16 91V); February, 2009;

 “Goodyear OptiGrip – is an evident winner of the test. Tire showed excellent characteristics on wet road and approved itself on dry road”.

  • Swedish Consumer Association magazine “Råd & Rön” – Winning in the comparative test (17 summer tires with dimensions of 205/55R16 91V); February, 2009;

“Goodyear OptiGrip tire – is the winner of the test with dimensions of 205/55R16 91V with total point of 73!”

  • Auto Motor und Sport magazine (Germany) – The second place in the comparative test (14 summer tires with dimensions of 205/55R16 91V); March, 2009;

“A very high control ratio on roads, the best clutch on wet road, a very good aquaplaning resistance”.

  • German Autoclub ADAC magazine together with Motorwelt magazine (Germany) - Goodyear OptiG tires with dimensions of 205/55R16 91V were estimated as “Very Recommendable”; March, 2009;

“Very equilibrium tires with the best definition on wet road and according to fuel consumption level. Low wear level. Goodyear managed to develop a summer super newly-designed product”.

  • German Independent Testing Organization “Stiftung Warentest” together with cognominal magazine – Winner in the comparative test (17 summer tires with dimensions of 205/55R16 91V) with point of 1, 9; March, 2009;

“Goodyear OptiGrip with speed index of V won in the test just because it demonstrated the best characteristics on wet road”.

  • Belgian Association of Consumers “Test Achats” – Winner of the comparative test (17 summer tires with dimensions of 205/55R16 91V); April, 2009; Goodyear OptiGrip tire won a rating of “Best Buy”.

“Reliable tire in any weather conditions especially on wet road. Has high mileage rate and conserves fuel very good”.

  • Austrian automobile Club “ÖAMTC” – Goodyear OptiGrip tires with dimensions of 205/55R16 91V, after winning in the test were estimated as “Very Recommendable”; March, 2009;

“A very considered product which grew out of rating. New OptiGrip considered as “Very Recommendable”.

European experts mentioned unique characteristics of new tires while driving along wet road.

As was explained by specialists of authoritative German magazine “Autobild” which also carried out comparative tests between new tires and worn ones: “If to take worn standard tires, their road adherence gets considerably lower. But seconds shown by OptiGrip remain the same. This is due to the second layer of tire tread which improves rod on wet road. Characteristics of Goodyear OptiGrip tires are getting better with each new millimeter of tread wear. Innovation of Goodyear provides excellent figures during the whole operating life. And we made sure of it by ourselves.”

In March, 2008 Goodyear OptiGrip tires were tested by Independent German Association TÜV SÜD Automotive – the most authoritative World association in the sphere of testing and certification of tires and wheels, which carries out researches of tires and tire technologies over 30 years. Tires were tested on wet road and on dry road as well.

In competition between two main competitors, OptiGrip tire confirmed its unique characteristics in the sphere of road ability and slowdowning on wet road even after 30,000 km. mileage.

 “In case our pilot was not driving a car and the process of testing was not under our guidance, we could estimate it as a practical joke!” – noticed Michael Shtaude, a manager of TÜV SÜD Automotive responsible for tires and wheels. OptiGrip tire showed really amazing results: after 30,000 km. mileage its aquaplaning resistance was at 6% higher than aquaplaning resistance of other new tires. But the most incredible fact is, the length of brake path of OptiGrip tire on wet road was by 11 meters shorter than length of brake path of other tires while slowdowning from 80 km/h to 20 km/h”.

Testing results showed that OptiGrip tires are much better than tires of the main competitors demonstrating excellent results of road ability, slowdowning on wet road and aquaplaning resistance and they:

  • After 30,000 km. mileage their length of brake path on wet road is shorter by 20%;
  • After 30,000 km. mileage aquaplaning resistance is higher at 6%;
  • After 30,000 km. mileage on wet road OptiGrip tire keeps twice as good road ability than tires of competitors.

In March, 2009 Goodyear OptiGrip tire which is produced with the use of SmartWear technology has become a prize winner of “Industrial innovation-2008” established by Luxemburgian Federation of Business (FEDIL).

After the jury has processed 21 file applications, was declared that OptiGrip tires and SmartWear technology are the main achievements due to the excellent characteristics during the whole operating life, and that these characteristics are considerably better than characteristics of competitor’s tires.
